The Beatitudes, Part 1

Rodney began a new series today, drawing from Matthew 5:1-12 to focus on the introductory words of Jesus from His Sermon on the Mount… the Beatitudes. Jesus’ words here run contrary to what we’re taught in modern society… “Look out for number one”… “Being rich and powerful is the path to happiness”… “If you don’t speak up for yourself, who will?”
The Beatitudes beg the question, “are we really willing to seek God’s approval more than anything else in our lives?” Do we really want HIS blessing more than anything offered by this world?

Ephesians: Applying What We Have Learned

Rodney concluded his series in Ephesians today, sharing a message looking back over what we’ve learned in this sermon series. He asks us to answer some hard questions for ourselves, to consider whether we’re really willing to fight the spiritual battles necessary to apply what we learn in Scripture. Are we willing to let go and allow God to work in our lives to effect real change, or are we going to continue to fight with our own strength and lose?

Ephesians: The Armor of God (Part 7)

This morning, Rodney concluded his series on the Armor of God, sharing a message focusing on “praying in the Spirit”. This discipline, from Ephesians 6:18, helps us to stay in touch with our “Commander in Chief”, and can be the difference between victory and defeat in our spiritual lives. Without direction from God, where would we be?

Ephesians: The Armor of God (Part 6)

Rodney continued his series on the Armor of God today, sharing a message on the “sword of the Spirit”. The sword of the Spirit (the word of God) is both a defensive and offensive weapon in our arsenal, allowing us not only to fend off the attacks of Satan, but to push back against the darkness of this world by drawing on Scripture. Are you filling your mind with the written word of God so that it is available to you when you need it?
