Thanksgiving — One of Ten Lepers
Posted on November 22, 2009
We examined a common passage this morning as we prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving next week, the healing of the lepers found in Luke 17:11-19. Rodney encouraged us not just to look at the “Thanksgiving” angle to this passage, though, but to dig a bit deeper and realize the faith required of the lepers in the healing process. Though we should indeed be thankful for everything we receive from God (like the one leper that returned to Jesus), we must also realize that in most cases, God’s blessing of our service to Him generally does not come until after we step out in obedience and faith.

This morning, Pastor Rodney continued his series on the Sermon on the Mount. Focusing on Matthew 6:1-4, he encouraged us to really pay attention to the things Jesus taught. Do we put into practice everything that God tells us to do, or are we just giving Him lip service?

Sermon on the Mount: Achieving Perfection
Posted on November 1, 2009
Rodney shared a message called “Achieving Perfection” this morning. Sharing from Matthew 5:21-48, he encouraged us to realize that, though the Law defines right behavior, righteousness does not come simply from doing what is right, but from the heart and motivations driving our behavior. Our relationship with Christ must come first and foremost.

The Sermon on the Mount: Salt and Light
Posted on October 18, 2009
Rodney continued in Matthew chapter 5 this morning, focusing on verses 13-16, “Salt and Light”. He emphasized strongly that our lives MUST reflect that which we profess to believe. If not, we’re likely not just to fail in leading people to know Jesus, but to actually push them further away from Him.

The Beatitudes: Blessed are Those Who are Persecuted…
Posted on October 11, 2009
This morning, Rodney wrapped up his series in the Beatitudes, focusing on Matthew 5:10, “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Rodney shares that persecution is the result of a life lived radically for Christ. We must live carefully so as not to invite it upon ourselves through foolish living, but when brought upon us through godly living, we should be encouraged! Though unpleasant, the rewards of eternity are worth it.

The Beatitudes: Blessed are the Peacemakers
Posted on October 4, 2009
This morning, Rodney continued his series in the Beatitudes, sharing a message from Matthew 5:9, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.” He challenged us to look at our lives and consider how the Beatitudes, made manifest in our lives, naturally lead to us living our lives as peacemakers, resolving the conflicts that inevitably invade our lives and our relationships.

Posted on September 27, 2009
This morning, we observed the Lord’s Supper. As part of that, Pastor Rodney encouraged us to spend some significant time in prayer, reflecting on our walk with Christ and allowing God to scrutinize our lives and speak to our hearts about whatever He sees fit. Take some time to do just this today as you listen to Pastor Rodney’s message.

Considerations for the Faith-FULL Church
Posted on September 20, 2009
Paul Damery stepped in for Pastor Rodney today as he and his family were on vacation, sharing a message about the “Faith-FULL” church. Paul challenged us to think critically about how we do church, and to consider whether we’re truly focused on doing everything that God asks for us to do. Are we truly doing anything that requires us to have faith?

Rodney shared another message in his series in the Beatitudes today, focusing on Matthew 5:8, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” Rodney encouraged us to be singularly minded, wholly focused on Christ, and asked us to consider whether we really and truly want to be transformed by our relationship with God.
